What is Hungary Innovation Week?

The primary goal of Hungary Innovation Week is to bring together innovation events organized in Hungary but with international participants between September 23 and 28, thereby strengthening the Hungarian research and innovation ecosystem and making it more visible at the international level, while also providing a forum for domestic and foreign stakeholders to meet, share their experiences, and build relationships.

What is innovation?

Innovation refers to the development, introduction, or significant enhancement of new products, services, processes, or technologies. The Oslo Manual of 2005 defines innovation as the introduction of a new or significantly better product, process, marketing method, or organisational method into business practice, workplace organization, or external interactions.

Innovation typically seeks to improve the quality of life, boost efficiency, or create new business prospects in some way. Innovation can take numerous forms and occur in a variety of contexts, including technological, economic, social, and environmental aspects.

Innovation is critical to economic growth, competitiveness, job creation, meeting changing market demands, and even crisis management. It can help firms expand into new areas, improve the quality of their products and services, and run more efficiently. It is also significant in terms of social and environmental impact, as it has the potential to provide novel answers to global concerns such as climate change, health, and sustainability.

Hungary Innovation Week: a week for innovation

The organiser, the Hungarian Innovation Agency (NIÜ), will plan the week’s events in consultation with key players in the field, based on their needs, and will include the drivers of the innovation ecosystem – businesses, decision-makers, higher education institutions, research centres, and so on – in the various programmes through partnership agreements.

Furthermore, one of the event’s highlights will be the Hungary Innovation Summit, an international conference launched with the intention of establishing a tradition, which will be organized by the NIÜ with the participation of foreign experts, based on the questions and needs raised, in order to provide participants with truly valuable knowledge.
